Updates/Fixes/Beta Versions

Posted 8/01/2006: An updated 1999 season pack is now available for free. Click here to get this new version. If you choose to use this data pack, you must be sure to grab the latest hockey.cfg file. The files contains updated figures for the 1999 season and it must be copied to your Quest Hockey Simulator application folder. Unless you changed it during installation, the folder should be "c:\program files\quest\."

Posted 7/15/2006: The new version (2006.07.15) is now available for download. Here are some important items that must be taken care of before you can start using the the new version:

Because the new version expanded on the use of On Ice Coaching, which affects the flow of the game, changes needed to be made to the entries within the hockey.cfg file to account for these flow changes. So, slight updates were made to each season within the hockey.cfg file. Also, the need for the hockey.cfg file to be present in each of the data directories has been eliminated. From now on the hockey.cfg file only needs to reside in the main game directory. A new install of the 2006.07.15 version will ensure that a current hockey.cfg file gets copied to your game directory. Any hockey.cfg file in your data directories will be ignored by the sim. This eliminates the need to make multiple updates to all of your hockey.cfg files. It really does simplify things. The Hockey Simulation website will always contain the latest version of this hockey.cfg file (http://hockeysimulation.com).

Once you move up to the 2006.07.15 version, you should Recalculate Ratings for the entire league before playing additional games with each season. This will ensure that ratings will be properly adjusted to account for the modifications in the hockey.cfg file. It's not necessary, but you can always email me if you feel that you need an updated season pack sent to you. As long as you previously purchased that season, I'll send you the updated version for free. All freely available seasons now have updated versions that are available for download from the hockeysimulation web site and the Hockey Sim Yahoo Group.      

Posted 6/5/2006:Anyone who received the 2006 data prior to June 4th 2006, should ensure that you have the latest updates for the Carolina team. Right-click on the link below and choose "Save Target As."  Then, you must ensure that you copy this file to the directory that contains your 2006 data. This file should overlay the existing file in the directory.
